Repurposing Content The Right Way With The Experience Model, Avoid My Pitfall
Stop repurposing other people's content and regurgitating them into a diluted version

(TLDR & free gifts in the bottom, don’t miss it!)
“Damn, this guy sounds like he’s full of it.” — Me to almost all the “gurus”
Ever seen those advice or guru videos where all they do is shake fingers at you and say how or why you should be doing things in a certain way?
If you’re on YouTube then it’s really unavoidable.
Titles like
“Why you should eat sardines every morning”
“How to make 10,000 dollars a month”
“Why your diet is killing your gains”
Examples are endless, and to be fair these kinds of titles worked on me for a little while.
But the more I see them the more I feel the ick.
Who the F@#$ are you to tell me what to do?
What do YOU know about me?
Just because a certain thing worked for YOU doesn’t automatically mean it’ll work for everyone!
More and more people are titling their headlines with the word YOU YOU YOU, because of this philosophy of:
“Everyone care most about themselves, so spam the word ‘YOU’ to get maximal traffic”.
It certain works. Oh you’ll get the traffic alright.
But what good is the traffic if all that happens after they consume your content that’s structured in a way that makes them get the ick?
That just means you get more people on your hate train.
When you post content and shake your finger all day everyday, you’ll be challenged all day everyday.
The solution is very simple and it took me forever to figure out.
I’ve been reluctant to post advice content for a long time because I don’t feel at all qualified to give any.
Even after I was more comfortable and feeling “qualified” I was still hesitant, and I know exactly why.
I don’t want people to feel the ick towards me the way I feel to those “gurus”, but I don’t know how else I can present my content.
Everyone and their moms present their content with a finger shaking manner to a point where I believed that there is no other way to do it.
Now however, I am absolutely comfortable posting advice content, after finally figuring out how to frame myself properly.
I will now tell you what worked for me, and hopefully it’ll help you with your content.
How I Frame My Content
In case you haven’t noticed, I pulled a sneaky one on ya.
“I will now tell you what worked for me, and hopefully it’ll help you with your content.”
“How I Frame My Content”
It’s a small shift from “How you should do ____” to “How I did ____”, but the impact is way bigger.
When I say “this is how I did it, and it worked so I’m here to tell you about it.”
There’s no way you could challenge me unless I’m lying about my results.
If I were to tell you I had sardines for breakfast, you can’t say I didn’t.
But how would you feel if I say “YOU should eat sardine for breakfast”?
This also leads perfectly to my second point:
Walk The Walk First Then Talk The Talk
Might seem obvious but hear me out real quick.
How often do you see “gurus” giving out advices on things when it’s just content they took from someone else and regurgitated into a way more diluted version?
This is how the “How you should” finger shaking content is born.
Of course they would all say “How YOU should do ___” because they haven’t done shit themselves!
If you’re also falling into this content creation trap, there is a solution.
Actually do what it is that you’re preaching, so you can reframe the title to “I did ___ “
“How you can make 10,000 dollars a month from just creating content”
Vs
“How I made 10,000 dollars a month from just creating content”
—
“How I lost 2 kilograms in one month following this diet”
Vs
“Why you should follow this diet if you want to lose 2 kg a month”
—
Hopefully you’re seeing things from a different lens now when you’re making advice oriented content.
When you create content this way, instead of giving a forcing your audience content down their throats even if the advice does not apply to them whatsoever, thus creating a huge ick, you let them decide for themselves if the shoes fit or not.
Plus, they can have all kinds of opinion about your personal experience, but they can never deny them.
Read that again, no one can deny your own personal experiences.
It gives you a shield for when you create content, it also becomes way easier for your audience to consume.
TLDR:
Old way = Consume content → repurpose by rewording → post it.
Better way = Consume content → try out the advices for yourself → write about your experience → post it.
