Realistic Morning Routine To Follow

Stop following fake YouTube CEO superman routines

"If you're not fighting a bear by 10 AM bro your morning routine sucks and your life is being wasted."

Don't you just hate it when you keep hearing people saying that to you?

What's that? No one's ever said that to you before?

Well yeah, I might've exaggerated a bit. How about this:

"Oh yeah you know my morning routine. I'm glad you asked!

After doing 3 months of extensive research on my sleep cycles I find it best I wake up at 5:15 AM,

I will meditate for 25 minutes first.

I then drink black coffee and head right to the gym and workout for 3 hours.

Then I eat my breakfast, which consists of 4 eggs, 3 bacons, and a smoothie I blend for myself using 17 different healthy ingredients.

After that I will sit down and do 4 hours of focus work on my business (what kind of business? Oh you know the online kind that everyone else is talking about, I promise you I actually have a business!).

Then I go for a jog to help clear my mind after a fulfilling day of productivity.

Come home, shower again and kiss my hot wife and recover my strength to have another perfect day again."

My friend, if you've been dabbling in the self-improvement world, you must've come across these types of morning routine videos on YouTube a thousand times.

If this this your first time hearing about this, and think I'm full of shit, I dare you to go to YouTube and just type "Morning routine".

I'm literally laughing right now as I typed this part.

Here's the deal my friends.

Those routines are fake.

None of the people preaching those routines are actually following them.

They do get the clicks though, and that's all that matters on YouTube.

What doesn't matter to those YouTubers is your actual well being.

Most of us are stuck in a loop of wanting to become better,

finding some sort of plan to follow,

fail the plan, feel miserable,

and then after spending some time in rock bottom you decide you want to become better again.

Why does this keep happening?

Why can't I just follow this diet?

Why can't I bring myself to go to the gym everyday?

Why am I spending 8 hours a day playing video games?

Why am I not doing all the things I know I should be doing to start having a better life?

What you truly lack right now is a foundation.

When a skyscraper is being built, the first order of construction is actually not to build, but dig.

The taller the building, the deeper the hole.

A giant hole, so deep you wouldn't believe, needs to be dug first.

Then, a foundation is created. The hole is filled and the skyscraper is now ready to be built.

Without the foundation, the skyscraper would topple over within minutes. Imagine a giant tree with no roots.

Any amount of wind will easily topple them over.

Your foundation is your mental health, and the routines and habits you build are the skyscrapers.

When you're depressed, even brushing teeth is hard.

What makes you think you'd have the strength to follow a superman CEO morning routine?

I'm not saying give up. Quite the contrary.

I'm here to give you a real and applicable solution to you being unable to stick to any plans that are good for you.

The realistic morning routine.

This exact routine is the one I have been following since early September 2023.

It's been over 5 months now and I haven't skipped a day.

I will give you the routine in a moment, There's just 1 thing I need you to understand first:

Your ego is going to tell you the routine is too easy, and you'll be very tempted to add more stuff and steps into the routine.

That's a massive mistake. Your brain cannot be trusted. Or else you wouldn't be here reading this now would you?

Keep the routine simple. Only advance and add more stuff if you can keep it for more than 2 weeks without trouble.

Tell your brain to shut up, especially on the first few days when you think it's way too easy.

Hold the fort for 2 week. Please.

You are building your foundation in those two weeks, it is the most important part of your morning routine skyscraper.

Do not rush it.

The Level 1 Three Step Morning Routine:

1) Preparation

Your morning routine actually starts the night before.

The first part of your routine is to plan your next morning, BY THE MINUTE, then the rest of the hour by the hour.

If I use my personal planner as an example:

7- wake up

7:05- take a shit

7:10 - wash face brush teeth

7:15 - Meditate

7:20 - Gratitude journal

Then, the rest of the day

7:30 - breakfast

8:00 - Write blogs

9:00 - Twitter work (DMs, Replies, Write tweets)

10:00 - Gym

12:00 - Lunch...

Plan it, even if you don't follow them all. In fact it'll be hard to be able to stick to them completely.

The point here is that when you have a structure in your mind, it drastically reduces the chance of you to mindless scroll your phone.

You have a clear plan, your mind isn't running blank and being easily taken advantage of by all the social media dopamine injection bullshit.

Sure you'll still lose in some mornings, but you'll start to win your mornings a lot more than before if you follow this method.

2) Meditate

Before you start spazzing and screech "meditation doesn't work, I tried it before!"

How long were your sessions and how how many days were you able to meditate consecutively?

Did you have long ass sessions where it starts getting you anxious instead of calming you down, preventing you making it a habit. Because the CEO morning routine videos told you to meditate for 30 mins right off the bat.

Meditation is a skill, no one can start off being able to sit still for hours and hours.

When I first started I couldn't even meditate for 2 minutes without starting to get anxious,

But over time, the meditation muscle in me has built up to 5-8 mins.

I know, it's not all that impressive but that's my point. We're not here to be flashy, we are looking for consistency.

The best morning routine is the one you can follow for the rest of your life. It's a lifestyle design, not a fad.

Start with meditating for just 2 minutes. If it is too easy you can add more minutes, but do not overwhelm yourself. Stay realistic.

The app I recommend is called "Medito". Free and no fluff, I've tried countless other apps and this one is hands down THE BEST.

Use the guided meditations they offer. Absolute excellence.

3) Gratitude journaling

Again, I am expecting you to cringe and moan, but you need to understand, if you're able to do this on a daily basis, you will have gained a new superpower.

Write down anything that comes to your mind which you are grateful for.

  • I am grateful for having shelter

  • I am grateful for having money to buy food with

  • I am grateful for being relatively healthy and not missing any limbs

etc.

3-5 a day is enough. Write anything.

The real magic begins once you start running out of positive things to be grateful for.

Once you are able to start being grateful for the negative things that happen in your life. You are golden.

You are leagues and leagues ahead of everyone else in terms of mental wellness.

Can you imagine, others surrounded by their own past and dark clouds, being held back and bitter.

And then there's you. Waking up everyday, stare right into the dark r and rainy cloud first thing in the morning,

and dissipate it immediately because you have a power to see the sun that's hidden behind the clouds.

There you have it. A realistic morning routine you can follow:

  1. Preparation (plan your day the night before)

  2. Meditation (2 mins)

  3. Gratitude journaling (3-5 things to be grateful for)

I have made a Notion template that perfectly captures the essence of this routine.

Follow it for just 2 weeks and you will begin to see your life change for the better.
