The Mental Blocks You Might Encounter When You Start Making Content And How I Overcame Them.

The fear of judgment we all face.

In the last blog, we talked about the more practical skill blocks that are preventing us from becoming a successful content creator/online business owners.

Today we will be talking about the mental blocks that if you don’t remove, there is no way you will ever even start to begin with (I.e. other people’s judgements of you and how much you believe in yourself).

I had 2 mental blocks in me before I really started my content creation journey.

First. I used to be one of those people who thought content creators are just clowns on the internet performing monkey tricks for money. I don’t want to sell my soul like that for anything.

But then I realized, being a content creator isn’t restricted to being a self deprecating entertainer.

These people were the content creators I had in mind who I thought were just clowns performing for pennies:

  • Nikocado Avocado

  • Belle Delphine

  • Logan Paul

When there are also these people out there creating content that are a net positive to this world:

  • Andrew Huberman

  • Jordan Peterson

  • David Goggins

  • Alex Hormozi

  • Joe Rogan

And much more.

The choice is yours really, do you want to be a clown? Or someone with a positive impact to the world?

Both takes skills to be honest, however different the skillsets might be, I just prefer being in the latter group.

Secondly, is what I like to call “The inner game”. (Just another name for mindset)

The judgment from your network, the switch and jumps you have to make and the new things you’ll have be ready to learn, personal growth, and getting way out of your comfort zone.

Can you imagine being in my shoes, all my friends and family knew that I went to medical school to become a doctor.

The faces on them when I say I will leave medicine, a 200k a year job to make videos online and sell digital products.

“Hey, yeah I got my Medical Doctor degree, but I won’t be a doctor, I’ll post videos and blogs online instead and start an online business.”

To me that makes total sense, but I know for a fact that to everyone else who are not familiar with both the medical field and online business arena will literally break their heads to try to convince me back to the MD path.

Truth is, they have no idea how much longer (approximately 8 years) I would need to grind to start working and getting paid real doctor money. The MD degree itself means absolutely nothing.

But I’ve made peace with it. People just won’t get it, and that’s fine. You need to be able to make that mental switch as well, before you’re able to fully immerse into and pursue this path. It’s part of the journey that unless you have no friends and family, you’ll have to go through.

If this is another block you have for yourself, just remember:

You can move to a new place where nobody knows you,

or realize that if this is your dream and you’re letting uncle Harry’s judgement hold you back, you’re basically letting some dude on the sideline have enough power over you to stop you from pursuing your dreams?

At the end of the day, are the people who have judgments over you the ones that are going to feed you and bring you joy in life?

No. Then why are you letting their minds dictate what you do?

You’re the one responsible for feeding yourself while bringing meaning and purpose into your own life. Not your uncle, not your mom, not your friends, and most certainly not your haters and trolls.

TLDR

The more you judge others, the more you will feel like you’re being judged. So stop judging people for your own sake.

Being a creator doesn’t mean you have to be loud and obnoxious while making full cringe content or prank videos. There are plenty of productive examples out there. Just be more like them.

Don’t think too much about how your closed ones perceive you. They’ll never understand to the extent of how you see things. Accept support and constructive feedbacks, reject negativity.

Most of the times the real thing holding you back is literally just you being afraid of what your mom is going to think. Really bro, you’re gonna let someone have that much power over you?
