The Hands Down Most Important Trait I Acquired As A Content Creator
It's not how hard you can go, it's how long you can go. (My burger joint VS alcohol shop Story)

There are countless things you must master to become an effective content creator. Some things that are important early on won’t matter later, and vice versa.
For example:
If you want to become a YouTuber, you obviously need to post videos. But do the quality of videos matter in the very beginning of your journey?
Of course it does. But, there are other things you must worry about before you even start spending loads of cash on getting the best studio equipment and gears.
The best gears in the world won’t help you if you are unable to speak in front of the camera, or write your own scripts. The best editing software and computers won’t help you if you don’t have any quality videos to edit (because you weren’t even able to get past your “shy” phase and actually start filming.)
When your channel is small, the production value doesn’t have to be amazing, you are still finding your voice and learning the ins and outs of videos anyway. But once you start growing in size, the production value will start to matter more and more.
Production value = Less important → More important
Another example is editing.
Important in the beginning, you must know how to do basic editing, to pump out your first few videos and have them semi watch-able. On top of that it will allow you to “find your voice”.
And finding your voice is crucial for when you start hiring editors. They will have a baseline or anchor to know your style.
Once the trusted editor is hired, editing becomes unimportant to you.
Video Editing = Important → less important
With that being said, there is 1 thing that will ALWAYS be important.
Not just for content creators in general. It is also a vitally important character trait that every effective person has:
Consistency.
In my small town there is was a real cocky burger joint. The owner of the joint (one person business) thinks his burger is so good that he can just come into work whenever he wants.
I did try to eat his food a couple of times but I never knew what time he was opened. I actually walk past the joint everyday on my way to school.
Not a single time have I tried his supposedly perfect burgers.
Needless to say, the joint closed down within 4 months.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, there was an alcohol shop that only opens from 10 PM to 3 AM. They only open 3 hours a day, but everyone partying and clubbing knew exactly where to get alcohol if they ever run dry during those hours.
Now you might argue that people like alcohol a lot more than burgers. And you are most likely correct. But I believe my point still stands.
You don’t have to be working the longest, most gruesome hours to be successful. You need to figure out which hours in your day is your peak, then absolutely protect and utilize them to the fullest, consistently, over and over, day after day.
It doesn’t come in the form of physical shops as well.
Twitch streamers streaming live on the same time everyday will always get more engagement than those who don’t (assuming they have the same size audience).
YouTube personalities I’ve followed for the longest are always coming up with content on a consistent basis. Some even go as far as posting the same hours each week.
(Bonus: consistently coming up with content will positively compound in your favor. They stay around forever, it’s a form of leverage.)
Hopefully I have convinced to you to start taking being consistent a little more than just a buzzword people throw around.
It’s time for you to be serious, being a content creator is no joke, you can judge all the influencers all you want. I did for the longest time until I started trying to do what they do. It is absolutely challenging, but in a good way.
I can feel myself growing and pushing my boundaries everyday, and I sincerely believe that I am having a better and more meaningful life now because of it.
If you’re ready, next week will be the week we discuss some strategies to be as consistent as we can humanly be.
Hopefully my personal experience and world view has some kind of positive influence over you. If you’re still not sure what’s right for you, don’t hesitate to reach out to me on any of my socials at http://drburgerflipper.com
