A Practical Guide To Create The Backbone Of Your Brand As A Beginner Content Creator

3 domains of your masteries to connect with your audience in a way big companies can never do.

(TLDR & free gifts in the bottom, don’t miss it!)

We are here today because we want to build something meaningful, and make a living from the internet.

In my humble opinion, the best way (still not easy) is to start building your own personal brand. Gain authority in your niche and start racking in leads to sell your products and services to.

I’ve been creating content for a while now and I’ve tried a bunch of different types of content ranging from advice to comedy, and here I will tell you which type of content did the best for me.

That was actually a trick statement.

There is no one type fits all, rather, the best way is to actually have a combination of different types of content.

We’re not robots or soulless entities, our biggest advantage against other big companies like Nikes or Amazon, Netflix, etc. is that we are people with faces.

That’s what a personal brand should be, a person, being personal.

You must still be helpful however, but in a way more human way than just another website that does one thing on the internet.

To wield our advantage to the most optimal and maximal level, we will be creating content around the concept I learned from my mentor Dan Koe, called the “Domains of Mastery”, or “Content pillars”.

It’s quite flexible and easy to understand, and here’s the gist of it:

3 interests to write about (domains of mastery):

#1 Priority: An interest that makes you money

For example:

  • Web development/design

  • Video editing

  • Real Estate

  • Crypto/NFT (ew lol)

  • Copywriting

  • Photography

  • Cooking

  • online business

#2 Priority: An interest that genuinely makes you excited:

  • The things in your browser history or YouTube watch history

  • The books you buy or have been wanting to buy

  • The interest you’ve been wanting to explore more but have been putting off due to other distractions

#3 Priority: Your developmental interests (DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS)

We are all constantly evolving, and if you’re not then you will be left in the dust.

I know some people are hugely turned off by all the “self-help guru shit” endlessly circulating allover the internet, the thing is that you don’t need to consume all of them.

That’s the beauty of a personal brand, it’s for you. Not everyone wants to be more masculine, not everyone wants to wake up at 4 in the morning, not everyone wants to be a monk. Pick your own self-help category to apply and write from.

If you want to bring true value to your writing, you must write in a way that impacts other people and help them grow. You NEED to study development.

Here’s my argument for why self-development is absolutely vital to your writing and content:

Psychology, spirituality, metaphysics, self-improvement, philosophy, or any other interest that helps you understand yourself.

If you understand yourself, you understand others (from a broad lens).

If you understand others, your writing will improve. You will get better at writing in a way that delivers value and generates opportunity.

It’s also worthy to note that just because you’ve pick a certain thing to be your pillar doesn’t mean you can’t change it anymore.

As I said before, we’re all constantly changing and evolving, do not be afraid to shift styles or pillars when the time is right.

Spend some time to figure out your pillars, because once they’re built you will have now gain a lot more clarity to your brand and content.

When you have such a range to write in, not only are you a lot more human, you are way more relatable to the general public than just a big logo that only talks about one thing.

People will follow you like you are their crack. You will be providing value, entertainment and a type of connection that they can never get from anywhere else.

This is your advantage as a personal brand. A good ratio of those 3 interests of yours, show off your life, your development and your progress.

Not only does it help others who are trying to follow your footsteps into similar goals you’ve set for yourself, be it fitness, finance, or relationships, it also serves as a way to record your own path and legacy.

How freaking awesome would it be when you look back 10 years from now and see exactly how far you’ve gone?

People live for these kinds of transformational experiences and there’s no better time to start than now.

TLDR:

Top 3 priority topics to build the backbone of your contents and grow your personal brand like mad:

#1) An interest that makes money

  • Everyone wants to know how to make more money, and if you have an interest aka web design, and are making money off of that, you can create content around web design and how you’re making money from it)

#2) An interest that genuinely excites you

  • Your own personal interests, if you’re not sure what they are, check your YouTube watch history. Could be about fitness, video games, history of a certain ancient nation, or good old conspiracy theories.

#3) A self-help/self-developmental interest

  • Spirituality, productivity, habit building, bio-hacking etc.

When you have these dynamics down in your content creation, anything you sell in the future you will be 10x more magnetic than any big and soulless logo traditional brands.

For reference, my current content pillars are:

1 — Money making interest

Content creation/web development

2 — Topic that gets my blood boiling

Making the full picture of pursuing the path medicine more accessible to the public, in hopes of preventing people from getting themselves involved in something they think will save them financially, when in fact it is actually detrimental.

3 — Self development

My general appearance through fitness, and getting over the fear of other people’s judgments both offline and online.
